Predictions

  • Blackpool/Fulham - Little to choose here, I'll go with the home team, Blackpool to win
  • Chelsea/Stoke - Chelsea, nuff said
  • Tottenham/Wigan - I don't see Wigan's woes ending here, Tottenham to win
  • Wolves/Newcastle, before last week I'd have given this to Wolves, I should go Newcastle, but I'm going to say surprise draw.
  • Man Utd/West Ham -Despite last weeks fluke, Man Utd to hammer the opposition
  • Bolton/Birmingham - Draw
  • Liverpool/West Brom - Liverpool win
  • Sunderland/Man City - City on their travels, hmm, Draw (possibly)
  • Aston Villa/Everton - A good Cup win from Everton has their confidence up, two disappointments in a row for Villa, both need the win, who has the most hunger. Everton Win (it's my team I have to be positive)

Quitting Smoking - Day 9

Okay, not a hundred percent success, but I have managed to go from 40 a day to about 8 a week.

Slowly, Slowly, catchee Monkey.

I always thought going completely cold turkey was going to be a stretch.

On the plus side I am managing to avoid smoking during the day at work and when I go out for a meal or drink with few problems.

When I'm alone in the flat that's when I get tempted.

Still, early days.

Now I feel Hungry

To early to say what the Avengers ensemble film will be like but I'll be paying my dollars regardless when it's released

Premier League 2010/2011 - Week 2 - Results

Even Worse this week only 3 right. Let down badly by Manchester United and I should have followed my instincts with Manchester City and West Ham. I think my expectations of a tough season for West Ham are being confirmed, but still its early days.

The other unexpected result was Newcastle's slaughtering of Villa 6 - 0, I didn't see that one coming and I'd like to know what odds I could have got on that.

My own Everton continue to disappoint but at least we're above Liverpool in the table and the 5-1 cup win last night will help morale, lets see if we can disappoint a travelling Villa this weekend.

Liverpool Daily Post - Sport - Columnists - Columns - Mark Lawrenson: At least it’s a good problem for Everton FC manager Moyes

That could well be it, I'm not happy with 1 out of 6, but we're not alone in that. We do tend to play at our best against the better sides so maybe the game against Villa on Sunday may sort us out.

Whatever happens we need to sort out who should be the regular starters, what combination works best.

Vampires Suck (2010) - Box Office Mojo

This film has nearly made it's money back and those who've paid to see it have only themselves to blame when they make another. Those who have seen it, shame on you.

Mick: Blues Are Top 4 Material

Nice to get the thumbs up but as Evertonian's know it's the position at the end of May which is important.

Bought this week

Looking at this I really need to drop Image United. A feeling that was confirmed after reading it. I must put my review on here soon.

Premier League 2010/2011 - Week 2

Here's the line up for this weekend

Fixtures

Saturday, 21 August 2010
Arsenal vs Blackpool
Birmingham vs Blackburn
Everton vs Wolverhampton
Stoke vs Tottenham
West Brom vs Sunderland
West Ham vs Bolton
Wigan vs Chelsea
Sunday, 22 August 2010
Newcastle vs Aston Villa
Fulham vs Man Utd
Monday, 23 August 2010
Man City vs Liverpool

Predictions

Last week I only managed to get 4 results right so lets try again

  • Arsenal/Blackpool: Blackpool surprised everyone last week, but this time they face Arsenal. Arsenal Win.
  • Birmingham/Blackburn: Birmingham found goals away from home last week but the Blackburn defence is very stingy. Draw
  • Everton/Wolverhampton: I expect Everton to bounce back in front of a home audience. Everton win.
  • Stoke/Tottenham: Traditionally Stoke are tough at home but Spurs are a tough side. Tottenham to edge the win.
  • West Brom/Sunderland: West Brom will be smarting after the drubbing last week but I think Sunderland are the better side. Sunderland to edge the win.
  • West Ham/Bolton: West Ham at home should win but I'm predicting West ham to go down this year. Draw
  • Wigan/Chelsea: After a surprise loss to Blackpool Wigan will want to make amends. This is not the game to do it in. Chelsea Win.
  • Newcastle/Aston Villa: Both good sides and this is the first premiership game back at St. James Park. But Villa are strong. Draw.
  • Fulham/Man Utd: Home or Away United are Strong. Man Utd win.
  • Man City/Liverpool: Tough one to call as I want them both to lose. My heart says Draw, even if my head says Man City.

Quitting Smoking - Day 3

Well I'm into my third day and things are going pretty well. i'm trying to minimise my Nicotine Gum intake so I don't swap one addiction for another.

The biggest problem is in your head. When you get of the train your mind is thinking ahead and you start to reach for a packet of cigarettes that aren't there. Same at the end of the meal or when you wake up.

I'm going to try to break this force of habit, once that's done it's time to drop the gum intake and replace it by normal gum.

One thing for definite, I'm breathing easier already :)

George Perez - Teen Titans

I was reading a post by Gail Simone on the Bendis Board (See Links on the right) about how she was sent some artwork by George out of the blue and I was reminded of something coming up in January next year.

Teen Titans Games

After such a long wait I'm eagerly anticipating this one, A reminder of the days when Teen Titans was worth reading.

Quitting Smoking - Day 1

So last night on the way home from work I decided to Quit Smoking. I popped in the local Farmacia to pick up some Nicorette in case I needed some back up and at 19:00 had my last cigarette.
As an aside it is interesting that the spell checker in Firefox doesn't recognise Nicorette and gives Cigarette as a replacement suggestion, and nor does it recognise Firefox.
Anyway I went out to the pub as usual, no massive cravings although I did chew a bit of gum. And now it's nearly 13:30 the next day and apart from chewing a bit of gum everything's a-okay. Tomorrow I'll try to go as long as possible without any gum to see how it feels.

Premier League 2010/2011 - Week 1 - Results

Only 4 Right. About what I expected, the only ones that I was really surprised to be wrong about were Sunderland and Blackpool.

With Sunderland I was not sure where the oppositions, Birmingham, goals were going to come from. But fair play to them they came back from 2 goals down to get a draw. With Blackpool, who would have predicted a 4-0 drubbing. My doubts about the team gelling in time were sadly misplaced.

There are some pundits trying to predict the Table in May 2011 based on the results this weekend. As for me ask me again in December, and even then nothing is set in stone, look at Everton last year after the Christmas break.

Results

Tottenham Hotspur 0-0 Manchester City
Aston Villa 3-0 West Ham United
Blackburn Rovers 1-0 Everton

Premier League 2010/2011 - Week 1

Here we are at the start of a new year (for football fans the year starts in the middle of August) and we can see the line-up

Saturday, 14 August 2010

Tottenham v Man City, 12:45
Aston Villa v West Ham, 15:00
Blackburn v Everton, 15:00
Bolton v Fulham, 15:00
Sunderland v Birmingham, 15:00
Wigan v Blackpool, 15:00
Wolverhampton v Stoke, 15:00
Chelsea v West Brom, 17:30

Sunday, 15 August 2010

Liverpool v Arsenal, 16:00

Monday, 16 August 2010

Man Utd v Newcastle, 20:00

Now I'm useless at picking results, even more so at correct scores but here's my predictions;

Tottenham v Man City : Possibly a win to Tottenham, but I'm going with a Draw.
Aston Villa v West Ham: Despite losing their manager Aston  Villa should edge this one, Villa to Win.
Blackburn v Everton: Blackburn aren't an easy opponent but Everton is looking strong, Everton to Win.
Bolton v Fulham: Hard to choose but I think Bolton are the stronger side and with the home advantage, Bolton to win.
Sunderland v Birmingham: Sunderland to build on the home advantage. Sunderland to Win.
Wigan v Blackpool: The newcomers, Blackpool, have bought heavily in the summer but I don't think they've had time to settle yet. Wigan to win.
Wolverhampton v Stoke: Like Tottenham & Man City this could go either way. A hard fought Draw.
Chelsea v West Brom: After a poor pre-season Chelsea have to prove themselves on the pitch. Chelsea to Win.
Liverpool v Arsenal: Heart says Arsenal, Head says Liverpool to win at home.
Man Utd v Newcastle: Tough start to the season for the Barcodes. Man Utd to Win, especially at home

3 Years, Huh

I was right, blogging has really replaced diaries and I'm no Samuel Pepys. 3 years since I last made an entry.

Still it's not like nothing much has changed. And here we are at the start of a new Premiership season. Unlike other years Everton actually look like they're in good shape, no major injuries, no Lescott like transfer sagas and only one player holding out on signing a new contract.

Of course this means that there are also no excuses.
